Terms of Service
Effective: 14 August 2026
These terms cover your use of Weche. They are written to be read, not just to be enforceable. By creating an account or continuing to use the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Weche.
1. Who We Are
Weche is a language learning product built by Lingofrica. It helps you ask about words and phrases in Swahili, Luo, Kikuyu, and Sheng, and gives you the word, how it sounds, and the story behind it.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Weche” mean Lingofrica. “You” means the person using the app.
2. Eligibility
You need to be at least 13 years old to use Weche. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Weche with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will remove it.
3. Your Account
You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. Keep access to that inbox secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.
You can delete your account from within the app at any time. Deletion is described in our Privacy Policy, which also explains what data we hold and for how long.
4. Acceptable Use
Please do not:
- •Use Weche for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or harm another person.
- •Try to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure.
- •Scrape, resell or redistribute Weche content in bulk, or use it to train a competing model.
- •Impersonate someone else, or misrepresent your connection to any person or organisation.
- •Submit content you have no right to submit.
We may suspend or end access that breaks these rules, or that puts the service or other people at risk.
5. Subscriptions and Payment
Weche has a free tier with a limited number of queries, and a paid subscription that removes that limit. The current prices and limits are shown in the app before you pay.
On the web, payments are handled by Paystack. On iOS and Android, subscriptions are sold through Apple and Google respectively and are governed by their store terms as well as these. We never see or store your full card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term until cancelled. You can cancel at any time: on the web through the app, and on mobile through your Apple or Google account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves your access in place until the end of the term you have paid for.
Refunds for purchases made through Apple or Google are handled under their policies, not ours. For payments made on the web, contact us and we will deal with the request fairly and in line with applicable consumer law.
We may change prices. If we do, the change applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it takes effect.
6. Language Content and Accuracy
Weche generates its answers with the help of automated language models and third party sources. Language is regional, contextual and contested, and dialects differ between places and generations. Answers can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong.
Treat Weche as a knowledgeable companion rather than an authority. Do not rely on it for legal, medical, financial or safety critical translation. For anything that carries consequence, check with a fluent speaker or a qualified professional.
Where Weche shows cultural or historical context, that context reflects the sources it drew on and may not represent every community that uses the word.
7. Your Content and Ours
What you type into Weche stays yours. You give us permission to process it so we can answer you, keep your history, and operate and improve the service.
The app itself, including its name, its logo, its design and its code, belongs to Lingofrica. These terms do not transfer any of that to you. You may use Weche’s answers for your own learning, teaching and personal projects.
If you send us feedback, we may act on it without obligation or payment to you.
8. Availability and Changes
We aim to keep Weche running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the service, and we will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Weche after that means you accept the updated terms.
9. Ending These Terms
You can stop using Weche at any time, and you can delete your account from within the app.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first.
10. Disclaimers and Liability
Weche is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, including that the service will be fit for a particular purpose or that its content will be accurate.
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing here removes consumer rights you have under the law of your country.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected to Weche is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or KES 1,000. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your home country.
Before going to court, please write to us. Most problems are quicker to fix by email than by lawyers.
